The Chief Steward
The Chief Steward is an elected position. Their duties are:
- Listening to TU members’ issues
- Leading the group in meetings with managers
- Working with organizers to train TU members to enforce labor laws and standards
- Supporting actions with coalition partners
- Signing up new TU members
- Working with organizers to recruit and train additional stewards
- Voting as a member of the National TU-CWA-ver.di Steering Committee
The Election Committee
The Election Committee is made up of volunteers. Election Committee members cannot also run for office. Their duties are:
- Working with Interim Chair Coleman to run the local officers elections
- Reviewing materials related to integrity of the process
- Monitoring the election process and certifying results
- Ensuring that elections comply with local by-laws, CWA Constitution, and federal laws
- Verifying that all individuals who vote are members in good standing -- and that each member only votes once!
